In order to avoid a new waste crisis .. What did the Municipal Municipalities Union decide?

The Council of the Union of Municipalities of the Northern Coastal and Central Matn in the Al -Ittihad Center held a meeting today, Monday, to discuss the issue of waste landfill in the new area and the crisis that has become on the doors after the current landfill reached its maximum capacity and the company’s operating decision to stop receiving waste from 1/10/2025 and the solutions to be taken to avoid the return of this waste to the streets.

During the meeting, the following was decided:
1- Emphasizing that the waste crisis is a national crisis, the government must work to find sustainable solutions to it, whether at the central level or on the decentralized level instead of temporary solutions that have been customary to adopt.
2- Working to accelerate the issue of starting to prepare the eighth cell within the current landfill and providing the outputs required by the new municipality- Bouchartia- Al-Sadd, with the union emphasizing its absolute support for the demands of the eligible municipality.
3- Stopping the reception of any waste from the areas outside the scope of the Matn district under any pretext.
4- Carrying out a swap (SWAP) process between the new landfill and the Costa Brava landfill to compensate for what was transferred from waste to the new landfill, as a transitional stage until the completion of the preparation and preparation of the eighth cell in the landfill.
5- The Federation’s affirmation of the continuation of work to avoid this crisis to prevent waste from returning to the streets, as this is the harm to public health and safety, and to intensify meetings with those concerned in order to find immediate solutions to this crisis.
