The “Sovereign Front” meeting, which was held today, Wednesday, witnessed organizational tensions and political disagreement that led to the “Lebanese Forces” party boycotting the meeting, despite the simple nature of the event, which was limited to the reading of a final statement and the cutting of a cake with a limited attendance.
In detail, Lebanon Debate sources revealed that the agenda stipulated that Charles Jabbour would read the final statement, followed by honoring him by cutting a candy bar. Immediately upon learning of these arrangements, the “Lebanese Forces” objected and demanded that the honor be canceled and that Jabour not be assigned to recite the statement, considering that it was the party most worthy of honoring him.
Despite the party’s objection, the attendees insisted on moving forward with their step, which prompted the “Lebanese Forces” to completely boycott the meeting in protest against this decision.
In a related context, the sources explained that the presence of Elie Sharbashi, the party’s former candidate in Achrafieh, was limited to the purely personal level and did not represent the “Lebanese Forces,” especially since he had never represented the party in the Sovereign Front meetings.
This discrepancy raises questions about the background of the situation faced by Charles Jabbour, who was known for his continuous defense of the “Forces” and his leadership in their political battles, on an occasion that was supposed to be of a symbolic honorary nature.
