Political data confirm that the majority of the Sunni forces in Lebanon have settled their options towards identification with Saudi and Arab trends, in recognition of the importance of the role the Kingdom plays in preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence and supporting its stability amid successive crises. This position reflects the increasing conviction of the Sunni circles that protecting the national interest is going through the engagement in the Arab project led by Riyadh.

However, this coherent scene is broken by a clear exception represented by three prominent personalities, former President Najib Mikati, MP Jihad Al -Samad, and former President Saad Hariri, as their positions appear either closer to Hezbollah or either differentiated from the Saudi line in Lebanon. Thus, they put themselves outside the general Sunni mood, which chose to adhere to an explicit Arab choice entitled to partnership with the Kingdom and stand behind it in its endeavor to enhance Lebanon’s stability and preserve its sovereignty.
