As part of its efforts to intensify market supervision and protect consumer rights, the Ministry of Economy and Trade announced the outcome of the work of the Consumer Protection Directorate from the beginning of this year until October 2, which included carrying out thousands of field visits and issuing hundreds of arrest reports against violators.
The Directorate reported that it carried out 18,172 field inspections through its monitoring campaigns that covered various Lebanese regions, which resulted in writing 924 arrest reports against violators, with the aim of reducing violations, controlling markets, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
In the same context, the Ministry received 1,925 complaints from citizens through its official electronic application “MoET Digital Services,” an indicator that reflects the growing reliance on digital channels to expand the scope of oversight and speed of response to sites of violations.
Weekly data showed intense activity for the period between September 28 and October 2. The Directorate responded to 190 complaints and carried out 492 field inspections, which resulted in the organization of 37 arrest reports against violators.
These indicators gain great importance in light of the worsening living pressures, economic fluctuations, and the high cost of living, which doubles the centrality of the Ministry’s supervisory role in controlling prices and verifying the quality of goods.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Economy and Trade renewed its call to citizens and consumers to report any observed violations or violations, either through the Ministry’s electronic application or by calling the Consumer Association – Lebanon hotline at 01750650.
