Tripoli bet on Badran to revive the glories of the golden age

Parliamentary circles announced their full support for the decision to renew the President of the Lebanese University, Professor Bassam Badran, for a second term, in a step described as a fundamental pillar to ensure the continued advancement of the official academic institution.

In this context, Representative Edkar Trabelsi confirmed, via the “X” platform, that giving success the opportunity to renew is a decisive factor in the university’s development process, noting that the brightest eras in the history of the university edifice, which he described as the “golden age,” were achieved under the leadership of presidents who held their positions for more than one term, citing prominent names such as Fouad Ephrem Al-Bustani, Edmond Naim, and George Tohme. Trabelsi concluded his position by congratulating the university and its president on the new mandate.

This position coincides with the decision of the Council of Ministers to extend the term of Professor Badran, a decision that sparked a public debate between supporters of the administrative continuity option and those who were pushing for the appointment of a new face from among the proposed candidates.

These developments gain exceptional importance in light of the serious financial, administrative and academic challenges facing the Lebanese University, amid widespread bets on its ability to overcome its crisis and restore its leadership role as the largest official higher education institutions in the country.
