The technical teams of the National Litani River Authority carried out periodic maintenance work, which included cleaning the strainers of the southern Ras al-Ain irrigation canal, and removing the waste and sediments stuck in it, as part of its efforts to improve the efficiency of irrigation networks and serving agricultural lands.
This step comes to ensure the regular flow of irrigation water towards the beneficiary agricultural lands, and to reduce any obstacles that may affect the flow of water or cause blockages that hinder regular distribution.
These works fall within the Department’s ongoing operational plans to maintain the continuity of water distribution in its facilities, especially in agricultural areas that rely primarily on canals to irrigate their crops.
These cleaning works are extremely important in preventing the accumulation of sediments, which has a direct impact on supporting farmers and increasing the efficiency of investing in available water resources.
