Fires of anger sweep through the home of a French policeman in a deliberate attack that stunned the security services

A massive fire destroyed the home of a police officer in the city of Oches, located in southwestern France, in an incident suspected to be an intentional attack linked to the nature of the victim’s work, according to what was announced by the French Minister of the Interior, Laurent Nunez, who pledged to harness all the necessary resources to uncover the circumstances and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Nunez explained, in a post on the “X” platform, that “all indications indicate that this criminal act, which cannot be tolerated, was committed because of the profession of a security man,” pointing out that the fire led to the complete destruction of the house despite the efforts of the fire brigades that intervened to control it.

The Minister of Interior stressed that the authorities will not relent in pursuing those involved, adding: “All necessary resources will be mobilized to identify those responsible for the incident and bring them to justice.”

This incident comes in the context of a noticeable escalation in violence targeting security forces in France in recent years, especially in medium cities and suburbs.

Official reports show an increase in rates of attacks on police and gendarmerie officers, which prompted the French government to strengthen security measures and take additional measures to protect officers and their families around their homes.

This incident comes as an extension of a series of similar incidents witnessed in various French regions, amid escalating union demands for the need to provide greater protection for the families of security personnel.
