From the martial arts arena to the American administration... Trump nominates a star athlete for a high position

In a move that raised questions about its seriousness, US President Donald Trump announced, on Saturday, via the “Truth Social” platform, that he had offered the position of White House spokesman to Dana White, president of the mixed martial arts organization “UFC,” calling on him to accept the mission and describing him as an “unparalleled” speaker.

Trump’s offer was not limited to White, but he suggested that he take with him a number of mixed martial arts stars to work as his assistants, mentioning the names of a number of fighters, in a sarcastic comment in which he indicated that they would help defend the United States against what he described as the “crazy left.”

According to Reuters, there has been no official confirmation from White regarding accepting the position, and ambiguity remains surrounding whether the offer was serious or came as a joke, especially since media reports reported that White had previously expressed his lack of interest in political work or holding government positions, despite his close relationship with the president.

This proposal comes at a time when the US administration is witnessing a series of changes in prominent positions following the loss of the Republican Party in the midterm elections. The position of White House Press Secretary became vacant when Katie Zacharias left her duties on October 16, less than a week after her appointment.

In the same context, the White House announced a prominent structural change with the departure of the White House Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles, who was known for her broad influence and close proximity to the President. Stephen Miller has been appointed to succeed her in the position.

The fate of the position of official spokesman remains pending, pending the clarification of the final position of the President of the “UFC” organization regarding accepting the mission, or whether the US President’s announcement was merely an informal proposal.
