Widespread escalation in the south: air and phosphorous bombardment leaves a hot night

The intensity of Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon escalated this evening, to include artillery shelling targeting a number of towns, coinciding with intense low-altitude flights of military aircraft, hours after a series of air strikes that targeted various areas.

In detail, the correspondent of the “Lebanon Debate” website reported that the Israeli artillery bombardment targeted the town of Al-Mansouri and the outskirts of the town of Baraashit, while the eastern town of Zawtar was bombarded with phosphorus shells. In the same context, an explosion was heard in the town of Khiam, while military aircraft continued to fly intensely over the southern airspace.

This afternoon, the region witnessed a wave of air strikes during which Israeli fighters targeted Wadi al-Saluki with an unexploded missile, in addition to launching two raids on the town of Bani Hayyan. The warplanes also carried out a raid on the town of Al-Mansouri with another missile that did not explode, before the circle of escalation expanded this evening to include artillery shelling and aerial overflights.

These field developments come in light of continued tension along the southern front, where air strikes, artillery shelling, and Israeli military movements in border villages and towns are frequent, keeping the region under constant security pressure.
