Environment: Displaying three scenarios for solid waste treatment in Akkar



The Minister of Environment, Dr. Tamara Al -Zein, received the Ambassador of Norway in Lebanon, Hildeh Haradstad, in a meeting devoted to discussing ways of support that Norway could provide to the Ministry, in line with the priorities that the latter set in terms of reforms and sectoral interventions.
In the context of working on the development of waste management in Akkar, the Minister of Environment met in its office, a delegation from the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and a representative of the World Bank, in addition to representatives of the company contracting with the office, SES – Elect, in the context of joint work to develop an integrated plan for solid waste management in Akkar Governorate. During the meeting, the proposed plan was presented and discussed with Minister Al -Zain that showed Some observations and proposals, stressing the importance of consulting with the municipalities concerned, provided that this plan is presented to the municipalities of Akkar at the earliest opportunity. The advisory body also presented three different scenarios for waste treatment, which started from sorting from the source, through the recycling stages, to the land, with the aim of choosing the most environmentally and healthy method for waste treatment and disposal properly.
