Instagram has launched a new feature that allows users to reset recommendation algorithms, in a move aimed at giving them greater control over the type of content that appears to them through the application.

The “Reset Suggested Content” feature is available within the “Content Preferences” section in the application settings, allowing the user to rebuild the content recommendations that appear on the home page, the navigation page, and the Reels section.

The platform explained that the reset does not affect the accounts the user follows or the ads shown to him, but is limited to the content recommended by the algorithms.

The feature also provides additional tools to review accounts and domains that the user is no longer interested in before performing the reset process, in addition to the ability to reduce the appearance of ads related to specific topics.

After the recommendations are reset, the algorithm begins to rebuild its understanding of the user’s interests based on their new interactions, such as likes, views, and the content they choose to follow. The user can speed up this process by specifying the posts that interest him or not via the “Interested” and “Not Interested” options.

Instagram also allows users to view content in chronological order via the “Following” and “Favorites” tabs, instead of relying entirely on recommendation algorithms. (Erm News)
