Today, Monday, the work of the quadripartite meeting, which included Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, was concluded in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with a political and security decision to continue dialogue and consultations to enhance cooperation in regional peace and security issues, and to pave the way for new rounds of joint coordination.
The final statement issued by the meeting stressed the importance of continuing consultation between the four countries to support regional stability, which proves the continuity of this quadrilateral path and establishes a new diplomatic and security channel between Tehran, Riyadh, Ankara and Islamabad.
The Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman, the Commander of the Pakistani Armed Forces, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and the head of the Turkish Intelligence Service, Ibrahim Kalin, participated in the high-level meeting, while it was hosted by the Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rezaei.
The outcomes of these meetings gain great importance in light of the accelerating escalation taking place in the region, as they come in the context of persistent regional efforts to reduce the truce, open diplomatic channels, and prevent the renewal of military confrontations or the expansion of their scope.
The discussions dealt with the regional security file and the current developments in Palestine and Lebanon, while an Iranian official indicated that the Iranian nuclear file remained outside the scope of the discussions. With this agreement, the four-way track moves from a mere founding meeting to ongoing consultations, amid regional and international anticipation to see whether this channel will result in practical understandings that establish stability and reduce tensions.
