On Saturday, the Yemeni army thwarted an infiltration attempt by members of the Houthi group in the southern sector of Ma’rib Governorate, supported by air strikes that targeted the group’s sites and gatherings in the region, amid a continuing escalation on the fighting fronts in the governorate.
September Net, the Yemeni army’s spokesman, reported that government forces engaged in fierce confrontations with Houthi elements as they attempted to infiltrate the Al-Fulaiha sector, and succeeded in forcing them to retreat and withdraw.
The confrontations resulted in the killing of 12 Houthi members and the injury of others, while the rest fled the area.
In the same context, government forces’ warplanes launched air strikes targeting Houthi gatherings and vehicles in the “Umm Rish” camp and “Aqaba Mala’a” south of Ma’rib, and the army confirmed human and material losses among the group’s ranks as a result of the strikes.
These field developments come in light of the escalation of tension on the Marib fronts, especially the southern sectors, with renewed clashes coinciding with a wide area of fighting taking place in several Yemeni regions, which consolidates Marib’s position as the most prominent strategic confrontation arena due to its geographical importance and its oil and gas resources.
