US President Donald Trump announced the establishment of the “Artificial Intelligence Force” (AI Force), similar to the “Space Force” that was established during his first term, revealing his intention to name a prominent official soon to lead this file under the title of “Artificial Intelligence Czar,” and stipulating that applicants for these tasks must have “high IQs.”
In his post on the “Truth Social” platform, Trump considered that the United States had been subjected during the past years to what he described as a series of “hoaxes” promoted by left-wing Democrats, which included, as he put it, the files of Russia and Ukraine, global warming, attempts to isolate him, and other social issues, in addition to attempts to “destroy” the artificial intelligence sector.
He explained that the criticism initially targeted data centers, before it became clear to societies the extent of the wealth and gains they achieve, and their role in raising wages, lowering taxes, and enhancing security, considering that the campaign against this sector “has largely failed.” Trump likened the attack on artificial intelligence to what happened when the term “global warming” was replaced with “climate change,” noting that critics were now directly targeting artificial intelligence.
The US President stressed that his administration will not “obstruct or stifle” the growth of the artificial intelligence industry, but rather will support its development, while pursuing “bad” uses through the criminal and civil justice system in force in the United States.
Trump described artificial intelligence as “the next industrial revolution” and a counterpart to the emergence of the Internet, expecting that the impact of both will outweigh them, and that the sector will contribute up to 25% of the country’s gross domestic product in the future. He concluded by emphasizing that the United States currently outperforms China and the rest of the world in this field, pledging to maintain this global leadership.
