Representative Jamil Al-Sayyid considered that the adoption of the general amnesty law in the House of Representatives opened the door to a new constitutional phase, in light of the popular interactions and contradictory political bidding that followed the vote on it, in addition to the statement issued by the Minister of Defense.
Al-Sayed said, in a post on the “X” platform, that the law does not become effective until the President of the Republic signs it and publishes it in the Official Gazette.
He explained that the President of the Republic has 3 specific constitutional options: either sign the law and publish it immediately, or return it to the House of Representatives for reconsideration, or leave it without signature or response within a month, which will lead to its legal enforcement.
Al-Sayyed described the situation by saying that “the ball of fire is in the court of the President of the Republic, the former army commander,” considering that the three options available to him are “the best of which is extremely bitter.”
He added that he had a “fourth option,” but he declined to reveal it.
