The Israeli army sent a message described as “unusual” to the residents of the Gaza Strip, warning them against approaching the “yellow line,” and accusing Hamas of deliberately pushing residents to approach it, at a time when Israeli soldiers’ testimonies speak of monitoring members of the movement monitoring the forces and testing their reactions near the line.
According to a report by journalist Avi Ashkenazi on the Israeli “Maariv” website, the coordinator of Israeli government activities in the Palestinian territories, during the last hour, issued an unusual message to the residents of the Gaza Strip against the backdrop of recent events around the “yellow line.”
The message came through the unit’s Arabic page, “The Coordinator,” on Facebook, in light of the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories said in his message: “Residents of the Gaza Strip, for your safety, we once again confirm: It is strictly forbidden to approach the yellow line extending along the Strip in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.”
He added: “We hear that Hamas is deliberately pushing you closer to the yellow line, with complete disregard for the danger that threatens your lives.”
The Israeli statement continued: “The organization that brought destruction to the Gaza Strip does not hesitate to use manipulation and take harsh steps that expose you to danger to serve its goals. Do not allow Hamas to push you into reckless steps that endanger your lives and turn you once again into victims of its reckless actions.”
He added: “This warning aims to preserve your safety. Do not expose your lives to danger and absolutely refrain from reaching the yellow line. The safety of those who violate instructions and approach it cannot be guaranteed.”
The Israeli message comes at a time when the report stated that the Israeli army has refrained in recent days, based on directives from the political level, from carrying out specific targeting operations in the Gaza Strip.
According to testimonies from Israeli soldiers present in the Gaza Strip, Hamas is testing the forces near the “yellow line,” by deploying members who monitor the movements of the Israeli army.
At the same time, elements were seen approaching the “yellow line” with the aim of testing how Israeli forces would respond, according to the report.
Yesterday, soldiers of the 99th Division of the Israeli army carried out an operation targeting a Hamas sniper stationed in the area where the forces are located in the northern sector of Gaza.
According to the Israeli account, the sniper was considered at the time an immediate and real threat to the forces, which prompted him to be targeted.
The new message places the “yellow line” once again at the heart of the field scene in Gaza, in light of the ceasefire, as the Israeli warning to the residents is accompanied by allegations of attempts to test the forces’ reactions, while approaching this line remains one of the most sensitive files in the field.
