Jimenez scored the second goal in the 32nd minute of the match taking place in the Mexican capital, Mexico City, in the round of 32 of the World Cup, which is being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Jimenez reached goal No. 47 during his career with the Mexico national team, ranking second on the team’s all-time scorers list, after he broke up his partnership with Jared Borghetti, the team’s former player.
Jimenez (35 years old), who began his career with the first Mexican national team in 2013, is now only 5 goals behind retired star Javier Hernandez, the all-time top scorer for the Mexican national team, who scored 52 goals with the team.
It is noteworthy that this is Jimenez’s second goal in the current edition of the World Cup, after he previously scored a goal during Mexico’s 2-0 victory over South Africa in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
