Oil declines as markets await the results of the US elections

Oil prices fell at the beginning of today’s trading, as investors awaited the results of the US congressional midterm elections and their possible repercussions on the course of talks to end the war in the Middle East, according to what Reuters reported.

This decline comes despite data issued by the energy sector showing an unexpected decline in US crude oil inventories last week.

In trading, Brent crude futures recorded a decrease of 26 cents, or 0.25 percent, to reach $103.34 per barrel by 0157 GMT.

In turn, US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell by 53 cents, or 0.55 percent, recording $95.56 per barrel.
