The Ministry of Public Works and Transport continues to expand road rehabilitation and maintenance workshops in the south, with work progressing in a number of axes in the Nabatieh and Sidon districts, as part of the ministry’s plan to improve the road network and address the points that need intervention.

In Zawtar Gharbiya in the Nabatieh district, the repair work has begun within the experimental areas, while rehabilitation work continues on the Aba-Mughriqa road, including treating and preparing the road and repaving the targeted sections.

In Sidon district, asphalt and rehabilitation work continues on Al-Sarfand Road – Secondary Road and Al-Husseiniyah Road, in addition to Al-Bissariya – Qaqaiyat Al-Sanbar and Al-Mamariyya Roads, where the workshops include treating, preparing and re-paving the damaged sections.

As for the Shamsiya Bridge on the International Highway (Marine Road), in the locality of Al-Aqibiya, structural rehabilitation work is progressing, including the implementation of concrete and reinforcement works and the completion of parts of the structure, with the aim of rehabilitating the bridge and enhancing its safety.

Works also continue on the Sidon-Borj Rahal International Highway, and include painting works and installing cat eyes, while work continues on the Zahrani-Nabatieh International Highway, and include planning the road and implementing public safety procedures, in addition to sidewalk work at dangerous intersections.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport confirmed in a statement, “These workshops come as part of an ongoing program to rehabilitate the road network in the south, with the work being completed successively, thus contributing to raising the level of traffic safety and improving movement between towns and regions.”
