In a new statement, US President Donald Trump expected oil prices to fall sharply after what he described as a “win” in the war with Iran, pledging at the same time that Tehran would not possess a nuclear weapon.

Trump said in a post on his “Truth Social” platform that oil prices “will decline sharply” when the United States achieves victory in the war with Iran, adding that the decline will be greater than the declines witnessed in other prices, as he put it.

Trump expected that this would quickly be reflected in fuel prices within the United States, saying that the price of gasoline would reach $3 per gallon, and then it would eventually fall to less than $2 per gallon.

Trump added that these developments “will happen quickly,” without providing a specific timetable or details about the factors that will push oil and gasoline prices to those levels.

In the same message, Trump renewed his position on the Iranian nuclear program, stressing that Iran “will never possess a nuclear weapon.”
