In light of the continuing repercussions of the war and the difficult conditions experienced by the towns of southern Lebanon, the acting French Chargé d’Affairs visited the towns of Rmeish and Ain Ebel, on a tour that focused on supporting residents and local officials, and learning about the challenges related to education, food security, and the needs of the people.
The French Embassy in Lebanon announced that the Acting Chargé d’Affairs visited the School of the Sisters of the Two Sacred Hearts in Ain Ebel, where a number of members of the educational staff and students shared their life experiences during the conflict period.
The embassy stressed that preserving access to education and enabling young people to continue their studies constitute an essential part of France’s commitment to Lebanon, especially in light of the repercussions of the war and geographical isolation that the region suffers from.
In Rmeish, the Chargé d’Affairs held meetings with the beneficiaries of the “Food Security and Nutrition” project, funded by France and implemented by the “Action Against Hunger” organization in France.
The embassy explained that the project contributes to meeting the basic needs of families, breastfeeding mothers, and children in early childhood, at a time when the war has further destabilized living conditions.
The tour also included meetings with the municipal councils in Rmeish and Ain Ebel, during which the challenges facing the two villages in light of their isolation were discussed, in addition to their priorities and the needs of the residents.
According to the embassy, the visit came to emphasize France’s commitment to serving local communities in southern Lebanon, and to highlight French efforts in the fields of education and nutrition, in light of the conditions experienced by the region’s residents.
