Salaries in the dollar … an important step through banks

During the past two months, major private companies in Lebanon have started transferring the salaries of their employees to banks in US dollars by opening the “Extrantal Acon” accounts, after the payment was “cash”.

Banking sources said that this matter is very important, as it re -linking companies to banks and feeding the latter with dollars, while it enhances customer confidence in the banking sector and makes citizens depend on it mainly to transfer their money.
In practice, this matter, according to the sources, means that companies go away from the “cache economy”, and thus reactivate the banking sector, while citizens get their dollars easily and through automatic cashiers constitutes a necessary step.
Actually, the step of paying salaries in dollars through banks means that the issue of paying the hard currency is no longer confined to the salaries of the public sector, but rather included the salaries of the private sector as well, and this is mainly gradually during the past year.
