Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received in the Grand Serail, Deputy High Commissioner for the United Nations for Refugees, Kelly Clemens, accompanied by the Deputy United Nations Special Coordinator in Lebanon and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Imran Riza and the accompanying delegation.

President Salam was briefed from Mrs. Clements on the details of her recent visit to Syria, especially to the Homs and Idlib regions, which are witnessing an increasing return to Syrian refugees.
Clemens confirmed that the commission is working with the Syrian and Lebanese sides to facilitate the return of refugees, and at the same time seeks to secure the necessary resources to improve the conditions of life in the Syrian regions, making the return sustainable.

She pointed out that more than 200,000 Syrian refugees have left Lebanon until now, either individually or through the organized return implemented by the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with the Commission, expected that Lebanon will witness the return of more than 200 thousand others before the end of the year.
She also stressed that the work of the Commission in Lebanon will continue despite the shrinking capabilities, while maintaining its support for Lebanon during the next year, pending the increase in the number of returnees.
In turn, President Salam called for a triple meeting that includes the High Commissioner for Refugees and the Lebanese and Syrian Sides as soon as possible, with the aim of enhancing cooperation and coordinating efforts in the return file.
