President Joseph Aoun affirmed, during his meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani, that Lebanon is committed to establishing fraternal relations between the two countries, based on cooperation, coordination, and non-interference in the internal affairs of both Lebanon and Syria.

Aoun stressed that Lebanon is keen on the stability of Syria, just as Syria is keen on the stability of Lebanon, expressing his satisfaction with the existing coordination between the two countries, especially in the areas of border control and preventing the smuggling of people and weapons and everything that harms the security of the two countries.

The President of the Republic indicated that President Al-Sharaa assured him in more than one meeting and call that Syria’s role would not be the same as it was in the past, and that a new page had been opened between the two countries, in which Syria would not be with one party against another, but rather alongside all the Lebanese.

Aoun welcomed the formation of the higher committee between the two countries, in a way that preserves the interests of both Lebanon and Syria.

For his part, Minister Al-Shaibani conveyed to President Aoun the greetings of President Al-Sharaa and an official invitation to visit Damascus, stressing that his visit aims to strengthen relations between the two countries and activate coordination, especially in the economic field.
