The Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the British House of Commons confirmed that addressing the situation in Lebanon can only be done through a diplomatic path, stressing the need to support the Lebanese government in extending its authority over the entire Lebanese territory.

In statements to Al Jazeera, she considered that any vacuum that might arise in southern Lebanon must be filled by the Lebanese army and international forces, stressing the importance of strengthening Lebanese state institutions.

It also called for strengthening Lebanon, considering that this requires Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanese territory, in parallel with stopping any external influence on the situation in the south, in reference to Iran.

She pointed out the need to support the two ongoing negotiation tracks regarding Lebanon, whether in Switzerland or the United States, as they are an opportunity to advance political solutions and stabilize stability.
