In a speech addressing France’s nuclear deterrence, French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday that the war waged by the United States and Israel on Iran “carries and will carry with it its share of instability and the possibility of escalation at our borders.”
Macron drew attention to the dangers inherent in “Iran, which still possesses nuclear and ballistic capabilities that have not yet been destroyed,” and added that he would address this issue again in the coming days, as reported by Agence France-Presse.
The French President announced on Sunday that his country would work to “strengthen its preparedness and defense support” after the Iranian attacks that affected several countries in the Middle East.
On the other hand, the US Secretary of Defense stated in a press conference held at the Pentagon that the US mission in Iran is focused on “destroying its missiles and navy and depriving it of the possession of nuclear weapons,” stressing that the war does not aim to establish democracy.
Also, US President Donald Trump pledged on Sunday to avenge the killing of soldiers during the war on Tehran, while Iran launched bloody attacks on Israel and the Gulf states after threatening to avenge the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
