On Friday, February 6, 2026, the former player for Esperance, Stade Tunis, and the Tunisian national team, Al-Mundhir Msakni, passed away at the age of 65, following a sudden health problem that befell him last Thursday, requiring him to be transferred to the intensive care unit in a sanatorium in the capital, Tunis.
This emergency health crisis led to the transfer of Al-Maskani, the father of three football players: “Youssef,” “Ihab,” and “Aziz Al-Maskani,” to the hospital before his death was announced on Friday evening.
Al-Mundhir Msakni, the father of Esperance star and captain “Youssef Msakni”, is considered one of the most prominent strikers in the 1980s and early 1990s. He began his football career with the Olympic Transport Club before joining Esperance in 1992.
Msakni, who was born in the capital, Tunis, in September 1960, represented the Tunisian national team in more than 30 international matches. He also played for the most prominent Tunisian Premier League clubs, including: Olympique de Transporte, Stade Tunisien, Esperance Sportive, and CS Sfaxien.
It should be noted that Youssef Msakni, the captain of the Esperance team, was absent from his team’s trip today, Friday, to Mali to face the Mali stadium next Sunday, due to the emergency health crisis that befell his father before his death this evening. (Arm News)
