The scope of the Israeli army’s field operations in southern Lebanon is expanding, to include the development of new military roads and connecting advanced centers, in conjunction with a ground incursion, a series of air strikes, and artillery shelling that targeted several southern towns and regions.
In field details, the Israeli army created new roads in the mountains and valleys within the western and central sectors, with the aim of connecting its military sites created after its incursion into Lebanese territory, in conjunction with ongoing bombing operations in the region.
In a remarkable development in the Marjayoun district, an Israeli force advanced this afternoon from the town of Khiam towards the outskirts of the town of Ibl al-Saqi, where it entered the town and searched two houses belonging to the “Salloum” and “Abu Dergham” families. The force obligated those inside the two houses not to leave, and asked the municipality of Ibel al-Saqi to remove the Internet from the neighborhood in question. Israeli forces also informed the town’s sheikhs of their intention to search two additional homes with a drone.
In terms of raids and bombing, Israeli forces dropped smoke bombs over the homes of the eastern town of Zawtar, and an Israeli drone targeted the town of Nabatiyeh Al-Fawqa, while military aircraft carried out raids on the town of Al-Mansouri and its surroundings in two batches within the western sector. Intensive low-altitude military aircraft flights were also recorded over the southern regions.
Heavy artillery shelling also targeted Wadi Nahla, located between the towns of Majdal Salam and Shaqra, in addition to targeting Wadi Al-Hujair with artillery shelling, at a time when a huge explosion was heard in the town of Khiam.
These simultaneous field developments – from building military roads and linking sites to ground incursions, inspections, raids and bombing – place southern Lebanon facing a highly escalating security scene, amid growing fears of an Israeli attempt to establish new field facts and expand the scope of its military control within the border areas.
