Airport electricity lands in the Ministry of Works: Details of the expected treatment

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport praised the fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Water and the Electricité du Liban, which resulted in the settlement of the electrical supply file for Rafic Hariri International Airport, to ensure its continued operation at an uninterrupted pace and without any interruption.

In a statement issued by it, the Ministry confirmed its full commitment to pay the amounts owed to the Electricité du Liban, noting that it had already paid a large portion of them. She explained that the remaining amounts are currently subject to financial auditing and calculations in accordance with legal procedures, in preparation for them to be paid successively.

The Ministry attributed the accumulation of these dues mainly to the significant increase in electricity tariffs, coinciding with the absence of a parallel increase in the financial allocations allocated to this item within its general budget.

In this context, the Ministry stated that the Council of Ministers had previously approved a draft law to open an additional appropriation of $100 million, allocated to cover electricity expenses in public administrations, which is expected to contribute to alleviating the existing financial burdens.

The Ministry of Works concluded by emphasizing its keenness to continue close coordination with all concerned parties, in a way that preserves the rights of all parties and ensures the regularity and proper progress of work in the vital air facility.
