The media office of the Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Al-Sadi, announced in a statement that discussions are continuing with the Qatari side regarding the proposal submitted for the integrated energy program in Lebanon, noting that three rounds of meetings have been held so far. Two of them are in Beirut and the third is in Doha this week.
The statement explained that the meetings discussed the legal, commercial, financial, and technical aspects of the proposal, and resulted in significant progress in converging viewpoints and clarifying the general framework for implementation.
The media office concluded by announcing preparations for holding a fourth round of negotiations in Beirut next week to complete the discussions with the aim of reaching a final formula for the Declaration of Intent (LOI). He pointed out that once this formula is completed, it will be presented to the Council of Ministers for approval and subsequent steps will be taken in accordance with established principles. In the same context, the statement pointed out that the solutions under discussion do not constitute a substitute for the urgent measures currently required, most notably the public sector’s payment of its bills and securing the necessary funding for exemptions and war reforms in the south.
