Will gas prices repeat the record 2022 scenario? Experts answer

An official in the Italian energy group Eni, Bugatti, ruled out the return of natural gas prices to the record levels recorded in 2022, which came as a result of Russia reducing its supplies to Europe, despite the recent rises in prices as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Bugatti explained that the current crisis is casting a shadow on the entire global gas market and not on the European continent alone, with the possibility of redirecting liquefied natural gas shipments to various parts of the world, pointing out that the markets are awaiting a gradual stabilization of the situation in the Middle East.

He added that the infrastructure in Europe has witnessed a significant enhancement in regasification capabilities over the past few years, which will contribute effectively to curbing any potential rise in prices on the Dutch TTF platform.
