Prime Minister Nawaf Salam made a phone call to his Jordanian counterpart, Jaafar Abdel Fattah Hassan, offering the condolences of Lebanon, the king, government and people, for the victims of the attack that targeted participants in a funeral ceremony inside the Church of St. George in Karak Governorate, and resulted in a number of victims and wounded.
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the attack, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, and affirming Lebanon’s full support for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the face of terrorism. Salam stressed that targeting civilians and places of worship represents a blatant violation of human and religious values, stressing that no justification can legitimize such criminal acts.
This position comes within a series of Lebanese official and political movements to express solidarity with Jordan, at a time when the Jordanian authorities continue their intensive investigations to pursue those involved and uncover the circumstances of the attack.
