Russian escalation hits the German depths: ports and industrial facilities are under targeting

On Monday, the Ukrainian Odessa region witnessed intense Russian air strikes targeting industrial infrastructure and port facilities, according to what the region’s governor, Oleh Kiper, announced. Kiper confirmed, in a post on the Telegram application, that the fire brigades succeeded in putting out all the fires that broke out as a result of the attacks.

In a related context, the mayor of Kharkiv, Igor Terekov, announced late Sunday evening that one person had been killed and six others injured as a result of a Russian air strike that targeted the second largest Ukrainian city.

These developments were preceded by the Ukrainian Seaports Administration’s announcement that a cargo ship flying the Liberian flag had been subjected to a Russian attack in the Odessa region. As a result, one person was killed and 3 others were injured, while 13 members of the ship’s crew were safely evacuated.

These attacks come within the framework of continued targeting of ports and maritime infrastructure in Odessa, which is a major center for exporting Ukrainian grain and goods via the Black Sea. It should be noted that the ports of Odessa and its surroundings have been subjected to repeated attacks since the outbreak of the war, causing damage to civilian facilities and ships. Despite these serious security risks, Ukraine continues to rely on its ports in the Black Sea to manage its vital exports.
