The Norwegian Football Association submitted two official complaints to the Ethics and Governance Committees of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), requesting an investigation into several decisions issued by the international institution, amid mounting questions regarding transparency standards and decision-making mechanisms within the global football system.
The first complaint focuses on demanding an investigation into the possibility of FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, and other officials committing violations of the Code of Ethics, while the second complaint highlights the efficiency of financial control mechanisms and governance practices.
The two complaints cover multiple files, most notably the mechanism for awarding the FIFA Peace Prize, the decision to lift the suspension of American player Folarin Balogun, in addition to a commercial proposal that was later cancelled, which provided for the sale of shares in a company dedicated to managing and marketing major tournaments.
On the other hand, a FIFA spokesman told Reuters that President Gianni Infantino has expressed his willingness to conduct an independent review, pointing out that these issues have been officially included on the agenda of the Federation Council meeting scheduled to be held on October 15th.
