The US Embassy in Beirut mourned the former US Ambassador to Lebanon, Vincent M. Patel, who passed away after a diplomatic career spanning more than three decades. The late man served as US Ambassador to Lebanon between 2001 and 2004, and before that as Deputy Head of Mission in the same embassy between 1991 and 1994.
In a post on the embassy’s official account on the “X” platform, the current American ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, offered his sincere condolences and sympathy to the late family and friends on behalf of the embassy staff.
Issa stressed that Ambassador Battle served the United States and Lebanon with dedication and distinction, pointing out that he had a deep love for Lebanon and its people, which prompted him to make it his home even after his retirement and the end of his diplomatic career.
Issa added that the late ambassador will remain engraved in the memory of the embassy family, praising his deep respect for the local staff, his steadfast passion for Lebanon’s history, culture, and the diversity of its nature, in addition to his continued commitment to consolidating bilateral relations and strengthening cultural ties between the American and Lebanese peoples, and concluded by saying: “He will be missed by everyone.”
