The President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, received the Director General of State Security, Major General Edgar Lowndes, to review the outcome of his recent foreign tour, which included Azerbaijan, Russia, and Belarus, as well as to review the agency’s tasks in combating corruption.
During the meeting, Major General Lowndes presented a comprehensive report to President Aoun on the results of his participation in the “Baku Security Forum” in Azerbaijan, in addition to the results of his official visits to Russia and Belarus.
The two sides also discussed the functioning of the State Security Apparatus and the tasks assigned to it, especially its supervisory role over public departments and institutions, and its tireless efforts to combat corruption and bribery.
This meeting comes in the context of the President of the Republic’s keenness to follow up the performance of the various security agencies, and to determine the results of their external communication and international participation.
