A double tragedy on the Safra Highway: a pedestrian and his paramedic were killed by two car hits
A humanitarian attempt to provide assistance on the Safra Highway turned into a double disaster, resulting in the death of two people in two successive accidents on the western lane of the highway.
In detail, an unidentified man was killed immediately and his body parts were scattered, after he was run over by a car while trying to cross the road.
In a gesture of solidarity, the owner of a gas station located opposite the accident site rushed to provide assistance, but he also died after being run over by a small truck (“pickup”) loaded with vegetables.
Members of the Lebanese Red Cross came to the scene and transported the two bodies, while the accident led to a heavy traffic jam on the highway.
Members of the Jounieh Sir Detachment began field investigations to uncover the circumstances of the two accidents, in conjunction with their efforts to organize traffic and reopen the road to cars.
