The Spanish club Barcelona began its campaign in the European Champions League with a wide victory over its Dutch guest, Feyenoord, with a score of five goals to one.
In a separate context, a report published by “The Athletic” network and reported by “Al Jazeera” channel revealed that the Catalan club had obtained official approval to arrange an additional loan worth 510 million euros. An amount of 300 million euros from this loan will be allocated to complete the renovation work on its historic stadium, while the remaining 210 million euros will go to cover the club’s operational needs.
With these new funds, the total cost of the Espai Barça development project reached approximately 1.8 billion euros, which represents three times the original budget approved for the project in 2014. Construction delays resulted in the club incurring additional costs, as well as losing a vital part of the revenues generated from the Camp Nou stadium.
According to the same report, Barcelona’s total debt is expected to rise to 2.6 billion euros based on the current repayment schedule. On the other hand, the club expects the stadium to reach its new maximum capacity of 105,000 spectators by the 2028-2029 season.
