Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé made comparative statements between his career and the career of his colleague Ousmane Dembélé, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2025, indicating that only a few expected Dembélé to reach this achievement a decade ago.
Mbappe said in statements to the French newspaper “L’Equipe”: “He is a talented player, but I am considered the chosen one. I reached the top early at a young age, while Dembélé took a different path and was hampered by injuries, but he came back wonderfully.”
These statements sparked press reports that spoke of a state of tension in the duo’s relationship, coinciding with their expected joining within hours of the French national team’s camp in preparation for the start of its campaign in the European Nations League.
In response, Mbappe confirmed that he had communicated with Othman regarding his statements, stressing that there was no tension between them by saying: “We are friends, and there is no problem between us, and I deal with complete calm.”
