The Saudi national team topped the list of teams participating in the Arab Gulf Cup Football Championship “Gulf 27” in terms of market value, whose competitions are hosted by the city of Jeddah, amid a noticeable disparity in the total value between the eight competing teams.
According to data from the global Transfer Market website, the total market value of the tournament’s teams is about 128.77 million euros. The Saudi team came in the lead with 40.68 million euros, followed by the UAE team second with 29.05 million, then the Qatari team third with 20.25 million, and the Iraqi team fourth with 17.78 million euros. These four teams alone account for about 84% of the total market value of the tournament.
At the level of the individual value of the players, and despite Saudi Arabia topping the collective list, Qatari star Akram Afif sits on the throne of the most expensive players participating in “Gulf 27” with a market value of 8 million euros. Alongside him are his teammates Almoez Ali, worth 2.5 million euros, and Edmilson Junior, worth 1.8 million euros, as this trio alone accounts for more than 60% of the total market value of the Qatari “Annabi” team.
In the rest of the ranking, the market value of the Omani team reached 7.7 million euros, followed by the Bahrain team with 6.08 million euros, then the Kuwaiti team with 5.08 million euros, and finally the Yemeni team with a market value of 2.15 million euros.
It is noteworthy that these numbers do not include the market values of a number of prominent stars absent from the tournament’s competitions, led by the Saudi player Saud Abdul Hamid, whose market value is 9 million euros, along with his two teammates in the Saudi national team, Salem Al-Dosari and Musab Al-Jawir.
