A Yemeni resident was killed and two other people were injured, one of them in critical condition, as a result of falling fragments of a drone launched by the Houthis towards the Taif Governorate, west of the Kingdom, and it was intercepted and destroyed, Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The official spokesman for the Saudi Civil Defense explained that the specialized teams responded to the site of the accident immediately after it occurred, noting that the falling shrapnel resulted, in addition to the human losses, in material damage to a number of buildings and vehicles.
This march comes in the context of a series of escalating attacks launched by the Houthi group targeting cities, regions, and vital installations within Saudi territory, including a previous attempt that targeted Mecca, which sparked a wave of widespread Arab and international condemnations calling for an end to attacks on civilian objects.
In the same context, Riyadh renewed its official condemnation of the Houthi attacks targeting civilians and civilian facilities, stressing that the Kingdom’s security and the integrity of its lands and capabilities represent “a firm and inviolable principle.”
The Saudi authorities stressed the legitimacy of their right to self-defense, and to protect their sovereignty, citizens, and residents of their lands, as well as their vital interests, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and the provisions of international law.
