
Miura, who is 59 years, five months and 24 days old, broke the previous record set by retired international midfielder Shinji Ono, who scored in the tournament at the age of 41.
Miura, who is in his 42nd professional season, opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before adding the second goal ten minutes into the second half, only to be substituted three minutes later amid great celebration. The former international striker told reporters: “You never know when you will have the opportunity, which is why I always practice taking penalty kicks, and I am happy that this work has paid off.”
It is noteworthy that the career of “King Kazu” began in Brazil in 1986, and witnessed professional experiences in Italy, Croatia, Australia and Portugal.
