In an electronic petition that received the signatures of about forty national associations, fans accused Infantino of “betraying his position and football” and consolidating the culture of individual authority, against the backdrop of his project to introduce private investments to organize tournaments, in addition to his previous proposals regarding the World Cup every two years and the policy of pricing tickets for the 2026 World Cup.
The coalition stressed that Infantino’s departure alone is not enough without establishing full transparency and oversight mechanisms for major decisions, while the European Football Association (UEFA) is studying the alternative proposal, relying on a rotating presidency that the continental federations rotate to limit the concentration of power.
