Maronite Patriarch Mar Bechara Boutros Al-Rai affirmed that politics based on narrow interests, divisions, and quotas cannot lead to reform, stressing adherence to Lebanon as a free, sovereign and independent homeland, and looking forward to the results of the ongoing negotiations regarding the south and sovereignty.
Al-Rahi said, in his Sunday Mass sermon: “When politics falls on the ground of narrow interests, it does not bear fruit. When decision falls on the rocks of division, it does not stand, and reform, when it is strangled by the thorns of quotas, dies.”
He added: “We want Lebanon in the image of a good land, a free, sovereign, independent homeland based on justice and the constitution, and we look forward to the ongoing negotiations regarding the south and sovereignty bearing fruit in a way that preserves Lebanon’s rights, stops attacks, and secures withdrawal from our land.”
