A strike in the departments and a bigger warning... Employees threaten open escalation

The Association of Public Administration Employees denounced the recent customs increase, considering that it is imposed under an “unsuccessful” environmental pretext, and constitutes only an additional means to further impoverish citizens and employees in light of the stifling living conditions.

The Association confirmed, based on the results of the questionnaire it conducted, its adherence to its three basic demands, which, according to its statement, have become an urgent necessity for the continuation of work, the most important of which is the adoption of a fair and equitable law to correct salaries and restore their purchasing value to what it was before the crisis.

It also stressed the necessity of amending the transportation allowance in proportion to the price of a tank of gasoline in accordance with what was stated in Decree 13020 and previous statements, in addition to approving rotation in attendance at work centers by 50% until the salary correction law is passed.

In this context, the association announced that it is preparing to hold elections for delegates during next October, emphasizing the role of the union base in decision-making.

The government demanded an immediate withdrawal from the customs increases and the implementation of the demands put forward, announcing, based on the employees’ authorization in the questionnaire, a strike and a complete warning closure on Thursday and Friday, August 20 and 21, 2026.

The association threatened further escalation, stressing that matters could lead to an open strike and the closure of public administrations if employees’ demands are not responded to quickly.
