Member of the “Democratic Gathering” bloc, MP Bilal Abdullah, announced, through his account on the “X” platform, that “Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny graciously signed Memorandum No. 131/F, related to the first tender for asphalt and maintenance of the roads of the towns of Iqlim al-Kharroub.”
Abdullah added, “Rasamni confirmed that he will sign the second memorandum within a week, once it is completed, provided that the works include all the main roads in the region, in addition to many projects submitted by the region’s municipalities.”
The signing of the memorandum comes within the framework of an ongoing process to improve the road network in Iqlim al-Kharroub, especially the main and internal roads that need maintenance, rehabilitation and asphalt work, after a series of follow-ups between the Ministry of Works, municipalities and the relevant parliamentary authorities in the region.
On July 28, 2025, the head of the Federation of Municipalities of the Northern Iqlim al-Kharroub, Majid Trou, announced the commencement of rehabilitation and maintenance work on a number of internal and main roads in the region’s towns at the expense of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, noting at the time that Minister Fayez Rasamny and Representative Bilal Abdullah were following up on the file.
In November 2025, the Ministry of Public Works had opened funds for the maintenance of the main and secondary roads in Iqlim al-Kharroub, as part of a plan aimed at rehabilitating various main roads in the region, with the projects to be completed successively within the funds allocated for the year 2026.
On November 22, 2025, the head of the Federation of Municipalities of the Northern Iqlim al-Kharroub revealed a plan agreed upon with Rasamny extending through the year 2026 to rehabilitate the main roads, explaining that the union had submitted to the minister a list of roads required to be included in the maintenance and asphalting projects.
