Request to reduce the guarantee .. This is a new Riad Salama file

According to press information, today, Wednesday, the defending team for the former Lebanon bank, Riyad Salama, will submit a request to reduce the bail that was set to release him.

The Lebanese judiciary issued, yesterday, Tuesday, a decision to release Salama, in exchange for a financial guarantee of $ 20 million and 5 billion Lebanese pounds, and the decision also included preventing him from traveling for a year, within the context of the ongoing judicial prosecutions against him.
In turn, the legal agent of the former ruler of Lebanon, Riyad Salama, lawyer Mark Hedaqa, said in an interview via “Al -Jazeera Net” that the guarantee set by the accusative body to release his client is “illegal and unconvincing”, describing it as “the highest in the history of Lebanon.”
Hobeqa explained that he requested a 24 -hour deadline to study the decision and determine the appropriate position, with the possibility of applying for a reduction in the value of the guarantee, noting that “if the guarantee is paid, there is nothing to prevent Riad Salama from leaving the prison”, but he considered that “the judiciary chose this high number under the weight of the prevailing populist and the populist climate, in an attempt to protect itself and gain the confidence of public opinion.”
He stated that Salama’s exit will be conditional on a full year travel ban, pointing out that “the health status of my clients is deteriorating with the testimony of forensic doctors appointed by the court, and this has precipitated decision -making.”
“The real legal battle will begin after the release of safety.”
