Chelsea has begun searching for a permanent coach to lead the team next season, with the name of Spaniard Xavi Hernandez being traded as one of the most prominent options offered within the London club.

This step comes after the dismissal of Liam Rosenior, in light of a disappointing season in the English Premier League, despite an acceptable appearance in the FA Cup.

Callum McFarlane is temporarily leading the team, but the recent results have increased the pressure on management, after Chelsea lost their sixth consecutive league match to Nottingham Forest 3-1. Brazilian Joao Pedro’s goal was the team’s first during that negative series.

Chelsea occupies ninth place with 48 points, three points behind seventh place, which qualifies for the European Conference League, three rounds before the end of the season.

According to the British newspaper “The Independent”, the club’s owners are looking for a coach capable of leading the next stage, while maintaining an offensive style based on possession and building play from the back.

Xavi stands out among the candidates, as the administration believes that his artistic ideas are consistent with the desired direction at Stamford Bridge. The Spanish coach led Barcelona for three seasons, winning the Spanish League and Super Cup titles.
Chelsea’s interest is not limited to Xavi, as the administration is monitoring other names, including Xabi Alonso, Porto coach Francesco Farioli, and Como coach Cesc Fabregas.
As the end of the season approaches, the next coach’s decision seems decisive in determining the shape of Chelsea’s new project, between a quick return to competition or a continuation of the transitional phase. (Sports)
