Is Eisenkot planning an Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon?

The day

Attention is turning to Tel Aviv after Gadi Eisenkot was appointed to form the Israeli government, amid Lebanese anticipation of the security developments on the northern border and the reality of the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.

In this context, a report on the Hebrew “Kol Hai” Radio stated that “Eisenkot is planning to withdraw from Lebanon, before he even succeeds in forming a government, as Eisenkot has begun to make negotiations and arrangements planning what is known as the “next day” on the northern front.”

The report stated that Eisenkot is negotiating with foreign parties regarding an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon.

The radio’s political correspondent said: “Even before Eisenkot forms a government, he is planning what will happen next. Perhaps this is the reason why the Arab parties support him from abroad, because they are aware of what Eisenkot will offer them in all fields. If a withdrawal from Lebanon occurs, it is merely a prelude to what will happen later, such as the withdrawal from Gaza and Syria, and the systematic and deliberate destruction of settlement outposts in the West Bank.”

False alarm in northern Israel

On the ground, the Israeli army announced that sirens were sounding in northern Israel this morning, following a suspected infiltration of a drone, before stating that this warning “was false.”

Israeli bombing of southern Lebanon

In the developments in southern Lebanon, this morning, Israeli artillery bombed the outskirts of the town of Majdal Salam and Wadi Saluki, and fired machine guns towards Wadi al-Hujair and the outskirts of Qabrikha. An explosion was also heard in the town of Qantara.

In addition, the Israeli army released, at around one o’clock after midnight, the citizen Nakad Bishara, from the town of Deir Mimas, and returned him to the town’s intersection, after detaining him and interrogating him for two days, according to what the National News Agency reported.
