The Strait of Hormuz turns into an arena of confrontation and two oil tankers catch fire

Today, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that fires broke out and two oil tankers stopped moving inside the Strait of Hormuz after they collided with sea mines, accusing the US army of supporting their attempt to cross unauthorized routes, and stressing that the waterway will remain closed until the seven conditions imposed by Tehran are met.

The Public Relations of the Revolutionary Guards Naval Force stated, in an official statement, that the two “violating” tankers had deliberately stopped all their navigation and identification systems, before they attempted to cross through an “illegal and unauthorized” route in the eastern region of the Strait, with the support and assistance of the US Central Command (Centcom) forces.

The statement explained that this attempt resulted in the two ships colliding with sea mines, causing them to catch fire and completely stopping navigation in the waters of the strait.

In a related context, the Revolutionary Guard confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to navigation, and that there will be no change in this situation until Tehran’s seven conditions are fully implemented, warning that the US military’s attempts to force oil tankers to go to “mined and unauthorized” areas will end in “successive defeats.”
